Power Maxed Racing has confirmed that Chris Wallis will stay on with the team as he returns to TCR UK for the 2022 season.
Having worked with PMR for the last three years, Wallis will join previously announced teammate Russell Joyce in the squad’s line-up
The former Volkswagen Racing Cup competitor will drive the same Hyundai i30 N TCR that he debuted at Brands Hatch last year. Since then, the car had been fully overhauled by the Power Maxed team and as such, Wallis hopes to emulate his earlier single-seater racing days with front-running performances.
Team Manager Martin Broadhurst is very happy to have Chris return to the team for the forthcoming season:
“As a team, we are over the moon to be working with Chris again. His experience and energy are second to none. As a team, we’ve worked hard to deliver the car he deserves and we’re confident we’ll see the positive outcome we were all hoping for last year.”
Meanwhile, Chris returns to the championship refreshed and ready to put last year behind him:
“Having returned to racing in 2020 driving the Power Maxed Ford Focus, it was great to agree a continued association with the team for 2021 in the VW Cup and then the TCR UK Championship. Unfortunately, due to a big accident halfway through the season, plans changed and I reset my sights on a full season programme for 2022.
“For me, the team and teammate relationship is really important and I feel fortunate to be part of the PMR organisation again for this season. Their professionalism and ability cannot be questioned and I have no doubt they’ll will provide me with a car that is capable of delivering good results.
“It’s clear that the TCR UK is going to be an impressive championship in 2022 and with the support of George Boyd Commercial Doorsets and my own Focus Brand, I’m looking forward to the challenges it will bring. I’ll have to dig deep, I’m sure. But I’m confident that I have the support and the right people around me to achieve the best I can.”
