Go-Fix Honda by Sport77 driver Bradley Thurston will make his return to the 2024 TCR UK Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park, for rounds seven and eight on Saturday 8th June.
Having driven an Audi RS3 LMS TCR in the opening three races of the year at Brands Hatch, Bradley will now switch to driving a second Honda Civic Type R FK7 TCR alongside teammate Will Powell.
The announcement also confirms that the Hampshire-based driver will compete in the remaining five events of the 2024 season, which include Croft, Silverstone National, Thruxton and the season finale on the Silverstone International circuit in October.
The benefits of running two cars at Go-Fix Honda by Sport77 now mean that the team can collect double the data as they look to challenge at the front of the field.
This means that the Will Powell-led team will be represented by three Hondas on the TCR UK grid in the second half of the season.
Alex Jones, who is undertaking a driver development programme as he gains experience, is scheduled to make his debut at Silverstone in August in a third Honda Civic Type R FK7 TCR.
Despite a challenging debut for Thurston at Brands Hatch, a recent test in the Honda Civic has provided Thurston with a chance to showcase his abilities in a TCR model that has been a race winner in TCR UK previously and in TCR Competition on a global scale.
The Oulton Park event will take place all in one day at the Cheshire venue, with Qualifying and Two races being live streamed on the dedicated TCR UK YouTube channel.
Bradley Thurston said: “I wasn’t planning on racing this season but entered TCR UK for a one-off. The car I was in didn’t do the job, but I really enjoyed the championship and the racing. A subsequent test in the Honda confirmed that was the missing link and I’m pleased to be in for the rest of the season, alongside Will and Alex.”
Will Powell said: “Bradley is a go-getter, so I was never in any doubt that he’d make a Honda deal happen. I’m pleased to welcome him to Go-Fix Honda by Sport77 for the rest of the season. Alongside our colleagues at J.A.S Motorsport and Honda, we now have work to do both on and off the track to deliver a competitive multi-car outfit from Oulton Park onwards.”
TCR UK Championship Promoter Stewart Lines said: “It’s great to see more drivers committing to the TCR concept in the UK. TCR UK is the best value for money touring car racing out there and we’re looking forward to the grid growing again during the 2024 season.”
