Organisers of TCR UK Championship are pleased to announce a further opportunity for competitors to win silverware during the 2022 season, with the launch of the Goodyear Diamond Trophy.
Created specifically for competitors aged over 40, the Goodyear Diamond Trophy will be awarded to the highest-placed eligible driver at the end of each race. Then, at the end of the season, trophies will be presented to the top three finishing drivers who were aged 40 or over at the time the points were scored.
This year sees the UK TCR Championship adopt a set of regulations closer to other national and regional TCR series’, with the introduction of this new award another step towards this increasing global parity.
Also, with numbers on the grid destined to increase this season, the award is expected to increase competition amongst the burgeoning group of 40-plus competitors, whilst the younger up-and-coming drivers fight amongst themselves for glory.
“We are delighted to be able to reward the efforts of the older drivers by introducing this new award, although we fully accept that many will be battling at the front of the field for the overall positions”, commented Championship Manager Stewart Lines. ” I must also thank Goodyear for supporting the trophy and for the much valued continued support towards the TCR UK Championship.”
