Volkswagen Racing Cup sensation Jack Depper will make the step up to the Goodyear Touring Car Trophy for the second half of the season driving a Maximum Motorsport-run Volkswagen Golf TCR.
In his now familiar Green Scirocco, Jack has dominated this year’s VW Cup and having taken four wins out of seven races so far, is the current championship points leader. The 21-year old feels the move to a TCR car will bring a new challenge and one which he is relishing.
Already aware of the fierce nature of competition amongst the TCR UK field, the 2020 Tom Walker Memorial Trophy holder will get his first seat time in the ex-Tim Docker Golf during the Friday test day ahead of rounds eight and nine at Oulton Park circuit that takes place on Saturday (17th July).
“I’m looking forward to getting to grips with the VW Golf TCR this weekend. With the VW Cup sharing the grid with the Goodyear Touring Car Trophy drivers and teams for the past two seasons, I know I’m throwing myself into a high level of competition.
“Whilst I’ll be learning the intricacies of how to set-up the car during each session and how to get the best out of it, I’m not intending to change my ‘Full Send’ approach as I get used to racing a different type of VW.
“I’ll also think I’ll have to re-learn how to race door-handle-to-door-handle again, as this seems to be the norm from what I’ve seen in the various Touring Car Trophy races so far this year. I can’t wait to get stuck in!”
